Kakkakuyil is a 2001 Indian Malayalam comedy drama film written, directed and produced by Priyadarshan. It stars Mohanlal and Mukesh. Jyothika was selected as lead actress making her third collaboration with director Priyadarsan but was later replaced due to further commitments. The film was released on 14 April 2001. Kakkakuyil was later remade in Telugu as Tappu Chesi Pappu Koodu (2002) and in Tamil as London (2005) by different directors. The story of the film is adapted from the 1988 English film A Fish Called Wanda and the comedy sequences involving the blind couple from the Gujarati play Aaflatoon by Mihir Bhuta which itself was adapted from Harsh Shivsharan's original Marathi play Ghar-Ghar. These sequences went on to be used in the 2006 Hindi movie Golmaal
