Playing National Anthem In Cinema Halls Not Necessary, Supreme Court

Reported By 09 Jan 2018

The Supreme Court today modified it's 2016 order of mandatory playing of national anthem along with the display of the tricolor flag on the screen to non-mandatory. However, the decision of playing of the national anthem at halls lies in the hands of the Central Government, when played it is mandatory to stand up and differently abled are exempted from this. The top court considered the Centre's suggestion who on Monday had told the court that it would set up an inter-ministerial committee which will frame guidelines on the occasions and circumstances when the national anthem should be played or sung.
